At FBC we think it is vitally important for you to find, attend, and involve yourself in a Bible Study. Without the small group experience, relationships, and Bible teaching in Bible Study, you will find it next to impossible to find your place to belong at FBC. First Baptist Lewisville’s Bible Study ministry has a lot less to do with “Sunday”, and it certainly isn’t “School.” So, we’ve created a ministry where the name defines and emphasizes what it does—Bible Study! We believe a small group Bible Study is the very core of a believer’s growth as a Christian. Here’s what you’ll find in Bible Study:
Bible teaching
Community
Encouragement
An opportunity to grow spiritually

FAQs

Could you define your terms? When you refer to small groups or large groups, Master-taught, curriculum-based, what do you mean?
Small group: 12 people or less; Medium group: 13-25 people; Large group: 25 people or greater; Master-taught: This method usually consists of one teacher who lectures a class. Some interaction occurs, but is minimal; Curriculum-based: The teacher of the class uses the Bible and supplemental literature to derive the lesson being taught. Most literatures have Bible background, interactive questions, and application. The literatures most used at FBC are:
Lifeway (Family Study series and Explore the Bible)
Bible Study for Texas (Baptist Way)
  Smyth and Helwys (Formations Series)
Teacher-created lesson: In this case, teachers have used many helps in order to create a personalized lesson for their class. For each lesson the Bible is the beginning point and other helps are used in addendum.

What are the Bible Study times?
We offer 3 hours of Bible Study on Sunday mornings - so you have three Bible Study options. We encourage you to find a group that you can connect with and can study the Bible alongside. The times are 8:00, 9:30 and 11:00am. (click on the times to see class options)

Are there age group options at all hours?
We have worked hard to have fully age-graded options at all hours. Click on the "time" links above to see each hour’s Bible Study description.

Can I just show up?
We invite you to “just show up” on a Sunday morning and visit our Welcome Center where a volunteer will give you options and help you find a Bible Study class. Don’t miss this opportunity to belong!

Is there a place for my children?
Newborns through college age all have great Bible Study options. We have wonderful ministries for preschoolers, children, and students where they will study Biblical truths while interacting with others their age and creating meaningful relationships. Each class is led by adults trained to teach with all the care and concern your child needs. The student ministry (7-12th grades) meet for Bible Study at 9:30 and 11:00 am. College students meet for Bible Study at 9:30 am.

As a guest, will I be expected or forced to do anything?
No. We want your experience to be a great one without any high-pressure sales. We’ll ask you to trust us with some information on a visitor card (filling it out is up to you) so we can follow-up with you later. There’s no mandatory dress code, Scripture memorization or tests—it’s simply a place for you to learn the Bible, life application and build relationships.
