From Our Pastor

Dear Preschool Parent,
The song says, “Jesus loves the little children.” So do we at First Baptist Church of Lewisville, Texas. I want to welcome you and your family to the Preschool Ministry of FBC.

Our dedicated staff of Preschool leaders, teachers, and caregivers stand ready to do whatever it takes to make “church” a great experience for all who come our way. Please read the guidelines that follow—they will help you understand our commitment to you and your child.

Today’s preschoolers are the next generation of believers. We consider it a blessing to care for your child.

Dr. Stephen G. Hatfield
Pastor

Security

The safety of your child is among our top priorities. When you drop off your child, you will be issued a vibrating pager or a numbered preschool security card. This will serve as your “claim check” when picking up your child. Your child will not be released to anyone without the claim check or to anyone under 16 years of age. All preschool leaders, whether volunteer or paid, permanent or rotating, are security screened.

Leaving Your child

Every time you leave your child in our care it is necessary for you to sign in on the attendance sheet outside the door. Please be sure to make a notation of your whereabouts and any special instructions for the child’s teachers. It is natural for young children to have difficulty separating from their parents. You can help to ease the process by reassuring your child you will be back and then exiting quickly. Should your child not settle in a reasonable amount of time, you will be notified. [back to top]

Pick up

Please pick your child up promptly at the end of the session. This will minimize his/her anxiety and shows respect for our valued staff. Be ready to submit your pager or preschool security card when picking up your child. [back to top]

What to Bring

Please dress your child comfortably for active play. Preschoolers learn by doing, and doing can sometimes be messy. Therefore, a change of clothing is recommended for all preschoolers. All items brought to church must be clearly labeled with the child’s name. Please bring any diapers, bottles, pacifiers, etc. your child may need. Toys from home are discouraged, as preschoolers have difficulty sharing their belongings. [back to top]

Placement

Younger preschoolers (under age two) are placed in classrooms according to their age as well as their stage of development. Older preschoolers (twos through Kindergarten) are placed according to their age on September 1st of the current school year. [back to top]

Snacks

Light snacks are served during most sessions. Saltines, graham crackers, animal cookies, cheerios and juice are standard fare. Occasionally other foods are used as part of a teaching experience. Please inform the teacher of any pertinent allergies, or if you prefer your child not be given snacks. [back to top]

Toilet Training

Teachers will happily work with you toward toilet training your child. Be sure to bring a complete change of clothes until the toilet training process is complete. [back to top]

Nursing

Curtained areas are provided in each infant room for the convenience of nursing mothers. [back to top]

Health

Parents will be notified if a child should become ill during a session. Keep your child at home if he/she exhibits symptoms of fever, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, or any potentially contagious condition. When in doubt about your child’s health, please apply the Golden Rule. [back to top]

Teachers cannot administer medications.

Parent Involvement

Parents who are FBC members are asked to serve during the Worship Hour on a rotating basis in the Preschool area. You will be contacted about this commitment. [back to top]
