Missions

Local

As a Young Adult Ministry we are involved in a large portion of what our church body does as a whole, but there are a few needs in our local community that we strive to meet that is unique to our ministry.

Bird Streets – the Bird Street Mission was started in the summer of 2008 when several members of the Young Adult Ministry saw a need to reach the families of a neighborhood in Lewisville.  Over the course of the year we do various projects, block parties, fun days for the kids, random acts of love, and more.  If you have a desire to serve people for the Gospel find out when the next Bird Street mission event will be.

Global

There are several specific projects that we are funneling our efforts as a ministry.  The first is through Compassion International.  If you walk into room 243 you will see a large world map painted on the east wall.  On this map are picture of children sponsored by young adults through compassion international.  We urge the young adults to strive to make an impact in the world even if they can’t serve overseas.  This map serves as a visual reminder that we can make a difference and that there is still more to be done.

Our other area that Young Adults are pouring themselves into is the Orphanage in Zacapa, Guatemala.  For more information on this mission please click this link:  Zacapa

This is the world map painted on the wall in our young adult room.  Since this was painted, we’ve begun to use it as a visual reminder of God’s concern for the whole world and what we can do.  Currently on the map, you’ll find pictures of children from different countries that some of our young adults have “adopted” through Compassion International. There are also pictures to remind of us our ongoing work at the Orphanage in Zacapa, Guatemala and pictures and details about young adult missionaries from our church, currently serving in God’s world.
