FAQ
What is Texas Hope 2010?
It is an effort to feed the 3 million hungry people within our state’s border and to share Jesus with the 11 million unchurched individuals within Texas by Easter of 2010. Some 5,000 churches in Texas who are a part of the Baptist General Convention of Texas (BGCT) are cooperating to help see this fulfilled. Each church will handle things differently, but there is a timeline of effort s to pray, care and share for Texans during this timeframe.
What is FBC’s involvement?
As with the other BGCT churches in Texas we have determined for the next 12 months to have this effort drive much of what we do. We think it will impact out church, community and our state. We are excited about what God can do in the next 12 months and how it might transform the way we do ministry for years to come.
Who is leading this effort?
Our pastor, Dr. Stephen is leading the way. This past March he met with 75 FBC members who wanted to know more and share ideas about how FBC could be an integral part of this. Church members and ministry staff will lead out—there’s room for lots of people to participate and lead.
How can I be involved?
Begin praying each day at noon for this effort—to give sustenance of food and faith to those who need it within Texas. Set an alarm on your watch or phone and pause and pray.
Look for ways to be involved in church’s efforts in our church communiqués.
Take advantage of moments you come across personally to share food and Christ with others.
